What data do you provide?
We provide comprehensive license information including: license number, license type, licensee name, business/DBA name, license status (Active, Inactive, Expired, etc.), issue date, expiration date, and address information when available.
How fresh is the data?
Our data is synced weekly with official state licensing databases. For Florida, we pull directly from the DBPR (Department of Business and Professional Regulation) public records. This ensures you're working with current, accurate information.
Which states are currently supported?
Florida is currently live with 365,000+ contractor records across 6 license types: Construction, Electrical, Elevator Safety, Asbestos, Mold-Related Services, and Home Inspectors. We're actively adding more states - Texas, California, and New York are coming soon.
How do I integrate the API?
It's simple! Sign up for a free account, generate an API key from your dashboard, and make GET requests to our endpoints. We return clean JSON responses. Check our
documentation for examples in cURL, JavaScript, Python, and more.
Is there rate limiting?
Yes, rate limits depend on your plan. Free/Beta accounts are limited to 60 requests per minute and 1,000 lookups per month. Premium and Enterprise plans have higher limits. Rate limit headers are included in every response so you can monitor your usage.
Can I search by business name?
Yes! You can search by license number for exact matches, or by business name for fuzzy matching. Our search looks at both the licensee name and DBA (doing business as) name fields to help you find the contractor you're looking for.
What does the beta include?
During our beta period, you get full API access with 1,000 lookups per month completely free. No credit card required. This includes access to all Florida contractor records and full JSON responses with all available data fields.
How secure is my API key?
Very secure. We hash all API keys before storing them in our database - we never store the plaintext key. All API requests are made over HTTPS, and you can regenerate your key at any time from your dashboard if you suspect it's been compromised.
What if a license isn't found?
If a license number isn't found in our database, we return a 404 response with a clear message. This could mean the license doesn't exist, is from an unsupported state, or may have a different format. Try searching by business name as an alternative.
Do you offer webhooks?
Webhooks are coming soon with our Premium plan. You'll be able to receive notifications when licenses you're monitoring are about to expire or change status. Sign up for the beta to be notified when this feature launches.
